The Annual Haitian Flag Day
Celebration commemorates and highlights the creation of the Haitian Flag and
the declaration of Independence of the first Black Republic in the Western
Hemisphere. The event conveys the rich tradition of haiti's history
throuh the social, cultural and public display of Haitian culture, history
and folklore. This year's theme is: Rebirth of a Nation: Caribbean
Reunification.

Haitian Flag Day

These are some activities for the Haitian Flag Day celebration. You can
celebrate it for one day, May 18th, or as long as one week.
1) Bulletin Board
Students can select a bulletin board for other students and visitors to
view and design it to resemble the flag of Haiti.
Students can use the computer to search on various search engines such
as Google or Yahoo/Yahooligans to find images of Haiti such as people,
places, artwork, etc. They can design pictures of scenes
from Haiti on construction paper and place the pictures in the center of
their large flag of Haiti.
